Nestor
Everyone has a breaking point….
Towards the end of the 20th Century, with no sign of a let up in the unrelenting and
increasingly aggressive persecution of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people
across the world, a small faction of forward thinkers quietly pulls away from
mainstream society, in the hope of creating a safe haven, away from hatred and
prejudice.
What starts as a tiny community on an island off the coast of Brazil soon takes on a
life of its own, and Nestor is born. People craving safety, equality and acceptance
flock to Nestor in their thousands, and the island is soon established as a young
nation, with its own laws, government, and entirely new set of unique, challenging,
and sometimes terrifying problems of its own…
Inspired by the short story 'NOS', by renowned author Zeca Fonseca, ‘Nestor’
examines one possible solution to the ongoing, and arguably worsening blight of
homophobia in the 21st Century.
